Indian mobile brand Lava launched their new range of Z series smartphones today. Lava mobiles also announced their goal of becoming fully end to end capable of producing smartphones in India. As of now Lava designs phones in India and their feature phones are completely made in India. The new Z series smartphones start with lava Z1. The Lava Z1 is a low end smartphone meant for users who are switching from feature phones to smartphones.
The Lava Z1 comes with a 5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, MediaTek Helio A20 processor, 2GB of RAM with 16GB storage, 3100mAh battery, 5MP camera on the front and rear, and Military Grade Certification. The Lava Z1 is priced at Rs. 5499/- which will make it easily accessible to most people who are looking to buy a smartphone.
To target a higher range market of smartphones from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 10,000 Lava comes with Z2, Z4, and Z6. Starting from the Lava Z2 at Rs. 6999 moving on to Lava Z4 at Rs. 8999 and finishing the lineup with Lava Z6 at Rs. 9999.
The Lava Z1 comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, MediaTek Helio G35, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13+2 MP dual rear camera setup with 8MP selfie at the front, a 5000mAh battery with 10w charging. The Lava Z4 comes with increased 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, a triple rear camera setup 13MP camera followed by a 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor, a 16MP front camera with bokeh mode, and TETRACELL technology.
The Lava Z6 shares the same specifications as the Z4 and just adds up 2GB of RAM making it a 6GB RAM variant of the Z4. Disappointingly all these phones share the same G35 chipset. But there is Z up service presented by Lava. You can upgrade your phone down the line and increase its RAM and storage. So if someone bought the Lava Z2 they can further down the line use the Z up service to get up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Lava shows you can upgrade Lava Z2 2/32GB to 4/64GB by paying an additional fee of Rs. 1949. which will bring it to Rs. 8948 of a total cost. The Z up service is available for the phone for only the first year of its purchase.
Lava also introduces my Z service through which a customer can customize their phone starting from 2/32 GB phone with 13+2MP camera up to a 6/128GB phone with triple 13+5+2MP camera with 16MP front, which will cost you Rs. 10,699.
Lava has also announced Befit, Lavas own fitness band which comes with tempareture sensor, activity tracking, heartrate monitor, SpO2 sensor, call and notification managing. Befit will be priced at Rs. 2699.
Lava Z2, Z4, Z6, and my Z service will be available from the 11th of January while Z1, Befit, and Z up program will be available from the 26th of January across all major platforms.
