Eurocom has just released its impressive new Sky X9 ‘desktop laptop’, packing some serious firepower. The Eurocom Sky X9 can be configured with up to a desktop Intel Core i7-6700K, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, a GTX 980(not the M , but the full desktop GTX 980), and a 4K display.
Inside Eurocom has managed to pack in two PCIe M.2 SSDs, as well as two 2.5-inch SATA 6Gbps ports along with 5 x USB 3.0 ports ,USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. There’s also HDMI, HDMI over Thunderbolt, dual GbE Killer E2400 ports , 6-in-1 memory card reader, backlit keyboard, Sound Blaster X-Fi external 7.1 channel audio output, a pair of built-inn Onkyo speakers + subwoofer dual DisplayPort, 7.1-channel analog and optical audio out.
The display comes as an IPS-based 17.3-inch 1080p screen, which can be opted out for 4K display including NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology. Eurocom has packed in a thermal management system that draws up to 660W of power.The Sky X9 measures 428 x 308 x 45 millimeters (WxDxH) and weighs 4.8kg, or 16.85 x 12.13 x 1.77 inches and 10.58 pounds.
The Eurocom Sky X9 starts at $2,631 when configured with a Full HD panel, and $3,266 when bumping up to a 4K display. For an additional $66, you can add G-Sync support, though only to the Full HD panel.
