Nvidia has announced a fully digital GeForce RTX launch event on the 12th of January. This probably would be their launch event of the new RTX 3060 and RTX 3xxx mobile series.
Nvidia promises to showcase their “latest innovation in gaming and graphics” in this event. The event is called ‘GeForce RTX: Game On’, and will be hosted by GeForce SR. VP, Jeff Fisher. The ‘GeForce RTX: Game On’ event is expected to launch the newer GeForce RTX 3xxx series mobile GPUs. The RTX 3xxx mobile series will include RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 for laptops and they will work with AMD’s Ryzen CPUs. Nvidia is rumored to be partnering with ASUS and MSI for early RTX 3xxx powered laptops and notebooks.
RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 mobile GPUs will be released in both Max-Q and Max-P variants, Max-P variants offer desktop GPU like performance at higher power draw while Max-Q variants will be quieter, slimmer, and much power efficient for portable use.
RTX 3080 mobile will only launch in Max-Q variant as power requirements for the Max-P variant will be very difficult to meet for a portable laptop.
Also the RTX 3060 12GB desktop GPU is expected to be launched at the ‘GeForce RTX: Game On’ event.
