MSI Discontinues RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio without worrying about the people who pre-ordered and were waiting for the GPU, their orders have been canceled and an e-mail has been sent to the customers. It said that MSI just decided to stop producing the RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio. This out of the blue strategy “made the delivery of this product impossible” as MSI said. Therefore people who were hoping for months for the GPU will have their hopes shattered. This also can be because MSI does not want to sell these GPUs at a lower price as prices have been raised quite a lot and constantly increasing.

This could also be a chance for MSI to fix their previous issues and improve cooling performance and durability with the better backplate and perhaps better thermal pads.

MSI Germany informed that there’s no difference between the 3080 X and Z Trio variants in terms of core clock and memory clock speeds or just performance to speak. The backplate here has changed to metal from the previous graphene backplate. Datasheets show small 15 MHz differences in the boost clock and power limits could be different in both variants.
