cydia substrate

If you’re waiting for the latest update for Cydia Substrate, then look no further. Saurik has launched a Cydia Substrate update, that bumps up the package or version 0.9.6200. This update fixes an issue which previously disallowed users to install any kind of packages or tweaks. The error code for this issue read, “failed in buffer_write(fd) (8, ret=-1)”. However, now that the fix is here in the form of a Cydia Substrate update, users will be able to install tweaks without any issue.

Cydia Substrate Update Fixes The Stashing Issue That Prevented Users From Installing Tweaks

The reason for this error to occur is that Cydia uses system partition to install tweaks. Since the storage is limited or not enough, the installation process is halted with the message. Henceforth, the tweaks should be installed in the data partition which has abundant storage to store tweaks and packages. An infamous developer known by the name Coolstar rolled out a package named “Stashing for iOS 9.2 – 9.3.3” that addressed the same stashing issue. The package allowed tweaks to be installed on the data partition rather than the system partition. This allowed tweaks to be installed without any error.

Saurik provided a similar fix in the latest Cydia Substrate update focusing on the “installation target of extensions”. Other than the fix, Cydia Substrate update also modified the “volume up to disable” option. This will allow the feature to work flawlessly on devices running iOS 9.2 and later. Once your device boots up, pressing down on the volume up button while Pangu jailbreak app is being used would disable the substrate.

Users who have already jailbroken their iOS device should update Cydia Substrate as soon as they can. This will allow them to dodge or prevent tweak and package installation issues. To update Cydia Substrate, simply launch Cydia and open the Changes tab. Once you do that tap on the ‘Refresh’  button located in the top right corner of the display. Once the sources are refreshed, Cydia Substrate should appear below the ‘Available Upgrades’. Now simply open the package and install it right away.

Since Cydia Substrate is now updated, it is safe to remove Coolstar’s package. You can now normally install tweaks and packages without worrying about any issue that might prevent you from installing.
