CoinDCX to host Solana ‘Virtual Hackathon’ to Expand India’s DeFi Ecosystem

Press Release

CoinDCX, India’s largest and safest cryptocurrency exchange, and Solana, a high-performance blockchain protocol supporting builders, have jointly launched a Virtual Hackathon to encourage the crypto and blockchain community and expand the country’s DeFi ecosystem.

Commencing on 15th May 2021, the Solana x CoinDCX x Devfolio Hackathon spans over 20 days and seeks to bring out some of the best projects from India. The ambitious event is bringing together developers, designers, business operators, and entrepreneurs to experiment and deploy apps/tools that would push the Solana DeFi ecosystem forward. The participation structure is very flexible; one can take part as an individual or in teams.

The prize pool will be distributed to the best projects submitted during the hackathon. The top teams can then continue building their projects to compete for potential seed funding. Individual projects will also have the chance to compete for added prizes. Additionally, the event will have DeFi, Web3, and NFT tracks, each with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners who will receive $25k, $15k, and $10k prizes in USDC-SPL, respectively.

“With the Solana x CoinDCX x Devfolio hackathon, we envisioned the emergence of India’s top projects with defined roadmaps and proven track records that will attract the seed funding they need to evolve and create a world-class ecosystem,” said Neeraj Khandelwal, Co-founder, CoinDCX and one of the judges at the hackathon.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the crypto and blockchain community in India to showcase their talent at building different projects. The Indian crypto market is bursting at the seams with potential, and a global event like this will help provide a platform for all those brilliant blockchain builders.” – he added.

“We are excited to have CoinDCX and Devfolio as the hackathon partners, helping support developers in one of the world’s fastest developing regions.” Said Anatoly Yakovenko, President of Solana Foundation. “Public blockchains have enabled the proliferation of decentralized markets and are establishing a more open, transparent, and efficient financial system. We aim to facilitate the very same across the world by empowering the creators & developers.”

By kickstarting the hackathon, CoinDCX and Solana are moving towards ensuring a flourishing ecosystem for the crypto and blockchain community in India.
