AMD’s next-gen Polaris GPUs to be featured in Apple’s desktop and notebooks
Apple will be using Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 GPU’s from AMD in their upcoming lineup of desktop PCs and notebooks.
AMD has secured its design win with Apple by getting its upcoming architecture inside of Apple Pc’s and notebooks. It might not be the huge numbers AMD secured by getting its APUs inside of the Xbox One and PS4, but its a big win if you look at it from a design standpoint. Apple just don’t throw any GPU or CPU inside their machines, so apple must have seen something worthy on the new upcoming polaris design.
Polaris is built on the 14nm FinFET process with some major power efficiency numbers, which is something Apple is always pushing towards. We should expect Apple to unveil the polaris-powered notebooks and desktops later this year.
