Apple is set to launch an Apple Watch companion application in iOS 8.2, the next major update to Apple’s mobile operating system. Apple will begin selling Apple Watch in April, so it seems plausible we’ll see that update roll out right around then.9to5Mac already explained a lot about what we can expect inside of the app when it hits, and today Mark Gurman revealed a new piece of information: the icon for the companion app.
It’s just an icon, yes, it is, but it’s also a major new application from Apple that will be used by Apple Watch owners to manage their new wearable. The icon was published on Twitter by Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac on Monday and clearly shows a side-view of the first generation Apple Watch.
This might just be a placeholder for now; it’s possible Apple will tweak it between iOS 8.2 Beta 5 for developers and the final version for consumers, but at least it gives us an idea of what to expect when iOS 8.2 and the Apple Watch are finally available for all in just a few short months.
