At CES 2026, ASUS has unveiled a refreshed lineup of AMD 800 series AM5 motherboards, alongside the new ROG Strix LC IV AIO liquid cooler series. The announcement spans multiple ASUS families, including ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and ProArt, covering X870E, X870, and B850 chipsets designed for Ryzen 9000-series processors.
The update focuses on improving memory stability, storage expandability, AI-assisted system tuning, and simplifying the PC building process, while the new AIO coolers introduce a cleaner, partially wire-free installation approach.
Optimized PCIe Layouts for Storage and GPUs
One of the key changes in the new AM5 boards is a reworked PCIe lane architecture, aimed at supporting multiple high-speed M.2 SSDs without sacrificing full GPU bandwidth. ASUS highlights configurations that allow users to run PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics cards alongside multiple PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.
These layouts are intended to benefit gamers with large storage libraries, as well as creators and AI users who require multiple high-speed devices operating simultaneously.
Focus on DDR5 Stability and Overclocking
ASUS has introduced several hardware and firmware-level enhancements to improve DDR5 memory behavior. These include server-grade PCB manufacturing, NitroPath DRAM technology, DIMM Fit Pro, and AEMP (ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile), all aimed at improving signal integrity, compatibility, and overclocking headroom.
Selected models also support 4-rank DDR5 memory, developed in collaboration with memory partners such as G.SKILL, targeting heavy workloads like AI, content creation, and data-intensive applications.
AI-Assisted Features Across the Platform
The new motherboard lineup integrates a range of AI-driven tools, including:
- AI Cache Boost for accelerating large language model (LLM) workloads
- ASUS AI Advisor, a natural-language assistant for build guidance
- AI Overclocking, AI Cooling II, and AI Networking II for dynamic system optimization
These features are designed to automate tuning decisions while adapting to real-world usage patterns.
Streamlined DIY and Installation Experience
ASUS continues to expand its EZ PC DIY ecosystem, introducing tool-free and simplified installation features such as:
- PCIe Slot Q-Release Switch
- M.2 Q-Latch, Q-Release, and Q-Slide
- Q-Antenna, Q-Dashboard, Q-Code, and Q-LED
A larger 64MB UEFI BIOS chip allows for extended CPU compatibility and a more responsive interface, while pre-installed WiFi drivers simplify Windows setup without requiring external media.
ROG Strix LC IV AIO Coolers Go Partially Wire-Free
Alongside the motherboards, ASUS introduced the ROG Strix LC IV AIO cooler series, featuring a 5.08-inch full-color display and multiple tubing options to suit different case layouts.
The most notable addition is AIO Q-Connector technology, which allows compatible motherboards and coolers to transmit pump, fan, and display signals without traditional cabling. By aligning contact points instead of routing multiple cables, ASUS aims to significantly reduce cable clutter and installation time.
Availability
ASUS has not yet announced pricing or India-specific availability for the new AMD 800 series motherboards or ROG Strix LC IV AIO coolers. More details are expected closer to launch.
