Third Party Games Re-seller G2A has finally come to the decision to pay developers any revenues that are generated from selling games on their site .

G2A has been for long the go to place for people who want to buy PC games for cheaper than what they are sold through official outlets . However it is not an offical reseller of any game . They merely facilitate a store front through which ANYBODY can sell game keys . Majority of these keys are often brought in bulk via stolen credit cards and such . It may also happen they have been ripped off of stolen shipments of retail copies or even from giveaways .  The ultimate result is the developer doesnt get the money for the games sold on the site .

Very recently it came to light that they had sold $450,000 of games from publisher tinyBuild without them earning a dime from the sales . This started a huge backlash and controversy which has resulted in G2A taking the current stance on the games that are sold on their site .

Now developers may earn upto 10% for any of their products sold on G2A .  This, they said, provides a way for developers to monetise third-party transactions.  Sellers on G2A have been long accused of buying games in bulk from stolen database of credit cards . G2A has planned to give developers access to their database so they can verify each sale and identify any illegal practices .

They are also adding a funding button through which customers can directly fund a  developer on their product page . This is a very good move especially for indie developers . G2A is pressing all the right buttons to ensure their reputation is improved . However the problem of fraud activity remains and its the one publishers and developers are keen to see how it will be tackled .

G2A says ,

“We want to reassure the development community that we monitor our marketplace extensively for any possible fraudulent activity”.

“In the small fraction of cases where fraud may be detected, we investigate and ban offending parties from further participation. We work with law enforcement globally to track fraud and we are committed to ensuring that the marketplace remains safe. Dozens of payment providers work with us globally because they have total confidence in our security process.”

Testing of these new initiatives begins within the next two weeks, with a full release planned for 29th July.
