After the huge success of Apple’s iPhone SE from 2016, for its affordable price, small size and high-end performance, Apple announced its new budget offering, namely iPhone SE 2020 on 15 April 2020. iPhone SE 2020 packs in tons of features and power at a price point starting at USD 399, making it a great value.
Specifications:
Processor: The new iPhone is powered by the most powerful processor Apple has to offer, i.e., A13 bionic. The CPU is believed to perform similarly to Snapdragon 865.
Memory and Storage: According to the information available, the phone is beleived to have 3 gigabytes of memory and will be available in 3 storage configurations; 64, 128 and 256 gigabyte capacities.
Display: iPhone SE 2 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, with a resolution of 750x1334p and supports Dolby’s vision. The display panel also offers HDR10 and haptic touch support.
Camera: Apple promotes the camera as the “best single-camera” ever in an iPhone. The rear camera has a 12-megapixel and f/1.8 aperture, offering features like Portrait mode and smart HDR, and supports high-quality 4k video recording at up to 60fps. The camera is protected by the legendary Sapphire crystal lens. The front camera or the selfie camera is a 7-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
Charging and battery: The battery capacity of the phone is 1960 mAh, which is similar to the iPhone 8, with up to 13 hours of video playback and 40 hours of audio playback time. iPhone SE 2020 is capable of wireless-charging with Qi-certified chargers and it also supports fast-charging up to 18w and comes with a 5w charger included.
Other notable aspects: The phone is equipped with the touch ID home button, for “industry-leading security”, to unlock the phone with the user’s fingerprints. It is IP67 water and dust resistant. The iPhone SE 2020 features an aerospace-grade aluminum and durable glass design with an all-black front and bezel at the top and bottom of the display. This variant too is missing a 3.5mm headphone jack.
iPhone SE 2020 will be available in black, white and red color. The phone has a compact design with an attractive price tag starting at $399. The Indian prices for the 128 and 256 GB variants have not been revealed. The availability in India will be announced at a later date.
The pre-ordering of the phone will begin at Friday, April 17.
