ZenUI 4.0

The Zenfone 4 series was unveiled in the We Love Photo in Taiwan on 17th of August and henceforth we received the roadmap for ZenUI update on Zenfone 4 series as well as the previously released Zenfone 3 series.

Michael Campos, Head of Global Content Marketing, ASUS revealed that not only the Zenfone 4 but also last year’s Zenfone 3 will we running the all new ZenUI 4.0 with Google’s latest Android Oreo on board. This is a huge sigh of relief for users waiting for the latest android on their devices.

ZenUI upgrade

The new ZenUI 4.0, according to ASUS is the lightest custom Android skin till date. This is supposed to offer as smooth an experience as the stock Android OS, a big turn up for stock Android lovers. This ZenUI features only 13 pre-installed apps as compared to the 35 on the ZenUI 3.5. Removal of bloatwares will definitely have positive impact on the overall performance of the devices. In addition to this, more intuitive features have been added to the UI. There is a new Twin Apps feature to support multiple social media accounts on the device, Page Marker- a dedicated bookmark app and other improvements.

Also, upgrade to Android O ensures some new features like picture-in-picture mode, notification badges on the apps, adaptive icons, better Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity, and yes finally a set of new revamped emojis! The new Android version also ensures better battery performance by restricting background apps. Individual notifications can now be snoozed and a better battery optimization is ensured. A new feature called Wifi Aware will allow users to connect among themselves in private networks and share data.

The ZenUI 4.0 is supposed to roll out for the Zenfone 3 devices after the release of Zenfone 4 series. Android Oreo on the other hand will be available for all supported devices by second half of 2018. The best bet being waiting for further announcements from the company.
