Video games can be complicated and overwhelming these days. With deep mechanics, branching stories and whatnot. I’m not complaining though but sometimes it becomes tiresome to keep a track of so many things and be committed to something for hours on hours. Sometimes you just want to kick back, relax and play something short, sweet and simple. Frog Detective 2 is just what you need.

AT A GLANCE
Title: The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective Game
Genre: Adventure, Indie
Developer: Grace Bruxner, Thomas Bowker
Publisher: worm club, SUPERHOT PRESENTS
Franchise: Frog Detective
Release Date: 23 Nov 2018

Created by independent Australian developer Grace Bruxner and Thomas Bowker, Frog Detective 2 is a first-person comedic detective game. It’s the sequel to 2018’s The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective Game.

The Case of the Invisible wizard is a cute and charming game that features our detective Frog journey to a magical town to solve a mystery. It’s really short, and you can see everything the game has to offer within an hour.

Our hero, Frog Detective journeys to a town full of anthroposophical citizens like himself in order to investigate reports of a parade being vandalized. As you question the various citizens of the town to find out their motives and take notes in your notebook, you will undertake simple tasks to help them get things back in shape.

Most of the time you will be walking around the island and talking to the various characters, asking questions in order to get info and figure out what to do next.

As you explore more and more of what each character has to say, you can start deducing what actually went down and it’s pretty cool that you don’t need the game to tell you what happened, you can figure it out yourself.

The art and visuals are just as charming as the characters. The game feels like a storybook straight out of your childhood.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Case of the Invisible Wizard is one of the most charming games I have played this year and it’s arguably the best portrayal of a frog in a video game. It packs in just the right amount of content and lets you relax and enjoy its quirky art style and story. It does a great job of building on the original game, and if you liked the previous chapter, you will love this one.
