Free for PC :

Do you already own Bioshock 1 and 2 and/or Minerva’s Den DLC on PC ? Is your answer, yes ? then the remastered versions of both games will be yours for free. Yes, you read that right. You’ll get a free remastered copy of whichever game you already own. If someone owns both, then they’ll get both for free. There won’t be a Bioshock Infinite remaster of the PC. According to the devs, the reason for this is because the game, “already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings.”

“If you already own BioShock, BioShock 2, and/or Minerva’s Den on Steam, you will be able to upgrade to the remastered version of the respective title(s) for free after release. It’s a circus of values!”, says the official Steam page. Both Bioshock 1 and 2 are currently heavily discounted on Steam, as part of the Summer Picnic Sale. Picking up a copy of each game right now will save you a lot of money.

Those who own consoles are, however, out of luck. They will not receive any of the remaster games for free, even if they own them already.( What a bummer ! ). But they will get the complete trilogy as a remaster ( and pay for it, of course. ), something PC players will not.

Blind Squirrel Games are ones in charge of the remaster project. “Working with Blind Squirrel Games, we’ve remastered BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite making them look better than ever,” reads the Steam page.
