Introduction

The low-end mouse market is a strongly contended one. A strong balance between price and performance is the winning mantra in this segment. Today we have the Ant Esports GM500 RGB mouse for review. Let’s see if it holds up to the hype.

The GM 500 Mouse is for the entry-level crowd. This crowd is looking for a performance-oriented mouse without breaking the bank.

Features and Specifications
  • Avago 3050 Sensor
  • Adjustable resolution 500/1000/1500/2000/3000/4000 DPI
  • Polling rate up to 1000 Hz
  • 7D Buttons
  • Huano Switches
  • 6 Color LED Illumination
  • Polling Rate: 1000 Hz

So, basically we have an ergonomic mouse with a budget sensor and good switches. Overall a no-nonsense budget-conscious package.

The Box and What’s in the box?

The box is not much to write home about. We have the standard cardboard box with the mouse inside the package. Front side has a product picture along with the main selling points of the Mouse. Backside expands on the same with a detailed diagram.

Inside the box, we have the mouse in a clear plastic shell. Opening that we find the mouse and a manual and a warranty card.

Shape and Feel

Moving on to the mouse, the mouse is 120mm long, width-wise the GM500 RGB stands at 73mm at the fattest part and 55mm at its slimmest. It’s about 40mm high with the hump located at the back.

The mouse has four rubber pads at the base and two dpi switches on the top. The Scroll wheel lights up a different color while changing DPI. The default color codes for dpi can be found at the bottom side of the mouse near the sensor.

Overall, the mouse feels sturdy. The rubber coating is smooth and like any other mouse in this segment, this is built to be durable. However, we would not advise taking your frustration out on this mouse if you happen to have a bad gaming session. Otherwise, you will have a problem with both longevity and warranty claims.

Sensor and performance

The GM500 RGB comes with the AVAGO ADNS 3050 sensor. This is one of the best budget sensors out there in the low-end market at the moment. The maximum tracking value is as high as 160 IPS(4.1 m/s) and acceleration up to 23G. The tracking value on the paper is up to 2000cpi however in the firmware you can tweak up to 4000. Overall a snappy mouse.

Software

ANT Esports uses a software solution for the GM500 RGB. However, it comes with any distinct name.

The software is as barebone as it gets without making it unusable. I cannot fault ANT for doing this since this is a budget mouse after all.

Opening up the software we have the button remap option in the main page itself on the right side.

On the left side, we have the DPI Setting, followed by the RGB settings and then by the other mouse parameters and mouse polling rate. We have an option ofOverall a not too flashy software setup albeit a bit buggy at times. As per my sources, the software will get a refresh very soon so that’s all good.

Conclusion

The GM500 RGB is yet another mouse in the highly saturated budget mouse segment. It has all the bell and whistles required. However, this mouse does not suffer from most of the latches like other players. The build quality is decent, RGB implementation is good, Switches are good and the software is fairly done even with bugs.

Overall, A bronze for the newcomer from TechARX! However, we expect this mouse to get more refined in the future since this is only the first product from ANT Esports.
