AMD at CES: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

AMD last night had their first ever CES keynote, a historic event where they announced, what we had known for some time Zen2 based Ryzen 3000 is coming in Mid 2019 and it can compete head-on with whatever Intel has to offer at a better thermal and power envelope. We already knew about Intel’s 10 nm Plan from a few days backs and it feels like AMD will have free reign of the market for a decent amount of time before Intel has anything to offer. One of the odd…

7nm is Here: AMD Reveals Zen 2

Back in 2017 when Zen was first announced it was a big big thing. AMD was finally bringing a processor out that could actually compete with Intel and it’s high-performance parts head on rather than really on the value aspect alone. Last night at AMD’s New Horizon event marked what is possibly the company’s most significant announcement post the initial Ryzen reveal. AMD’s Mark Papermaster spoke in detail about its new 7nm Zen 2  core and partnership with TMSC, which will be manufacturing it. From the outset, he claims a…

4 new Ryzen 2000 parts released by AMD

AMD’s first Generation Ryzen processors were stacked with parts from the ultra-cheap Ryzen 1200 to the high end 1800x. By comparison, AMD had only released 4 true 2000 series Ryzen processors. However, with the release of these 4 CPUs, AMD is catering to all its customers. These new 2000-series processors based on Zen+ features: two X-series processors at 65W focused on overclocking with Precision Boost overdrive, and two E series parts at 45W. However, these new CPUs, at least the X parts, are not available for Retail as of right now.…

AMD Ryzen™ 2nd Generation Review: featuring the AMD Ryzen™ 3 2200G

Back in July 2017, we looked at the 1st Generation of Ryzen processors in the form of the Ryzen™ 7 1700x and we were mighty impressed. We even gave it our Gold Award. AMD had hit a massive Six with the Zen architecture and in many ways forced Intel to ditch 4 cores for the High end and also move the industry forward. But while CPU division of AMD was basking in glory, it’s GPU division, Radeon Technologies Group was not as impressive. AMD released their much-hyped VEGA GPUs last…
