Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 821 at 2.4 GHz

While most people might have foresaw this, considering that you’re a mobile phone / smartphone enthusiast – Qualcomm has announced a new addition to its higher tier SOCs in the Qualcomm Snapdraon 821 AKA MSM8996 Pro. This news however serves to acknowledge that this new CPU exists and will sport 2x Kryo 2.4 GHz cores. While no launch date or probable devices to fancy the Snapdragon 821 have been hinted yet by Snapdragon, it would be safe to assume that the inevitable isn’t far judging from the fact that Qualcomm’s Engineering staff has been assiduous at its job ever since the Snapdragon 820 launch. They’ve been preoccupied with decimating all the faults and bring forward a blooming, flawless product.

CPU Power Cluster 2x Kryo 1.6 GHz 2x Kryo >2 GHz

According to Anandtech, what hasn’t been enunciated during this announcement is the fact that the CPU Power cluster is more than likely to have clocks speeds higher than 2 GHz while the GPU will witness clocks around 650 MHz. No other revamps as of yet related to the Adreno 530 are currently known. Little is known about other plausible amendments to the architecture as their has been no affirmation on Qualcomm’s part. So it appears, we’ll have to play the waiting game again as far as an in-depth spec sheet of this upcoming SOC is concerned. Even this current information is subject to change influenced by what goes on inside Qualcomm. Do note that while these modifications seem minuscule, on an SOC, these can translate to drastic improvements in performance and power efficiency. There’ll be lots more to come on this new product that is being brewed by Qualcomm, so stay tuned!
