Nexus M1

Google’s flagship android phones are this year’s biggest rumor mill features as of now.  The rumors circling the upcoming Nexus M1 and Nexus S1 are quite a lot. Mainly a bunch of discussions on the device’s specifications, with the exception of a few images of the design. Nicknamed Marlin and Sailfish, the two Nexus phones M1 and S1 will target the high and medium end markets respectively. New information is now available on the build materials of the phone. Apparently, there will be both metal and plastic on board.

HTC Marlin Will Feature Metal Body While The Sailfish Will Have Soft  Plastic

As we said before, there has been quite a lot of chatter regarding Google’s Nexus smartphones this year. Though most of it is around the Nexus S1.  The high-end M1 however has seen lesser light. Leaked renders of the phone’s design indicate that there were no compromises made to make it look good. Also looking at the advancements Qualcomm has made, it seems the M1 will definitely pack a punch in the hardware section.

The lesser of the two, the S1 will feature some decent specs, as listed below:

  • Snapdragon 820 Processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 2700mAh Battery

Specifications on the M1, however has seen little daylight. But we believe it will come with the Snapdragon 821. The processor launched earlier this month by the US-based chipmaker. Though they are making slow progress post-release of the SnapDragon 810. The overheating issues of the processor did cost the manufacturer quite some market share.

Designs of the Nexus M1 and S1 Emphasizes Subtlety

Nexus M1

The designs of the phones have definitely garnered greater interest in us. As you can see in the images, the Nexus phones will endorse a more subtle design. The protruded camera design from last year has taken leave as the back of the phone has been simplified.  The corners of the phone is getting some extra curve to complement the sleek design.  The HTC Marlin will don a full metal body design while the Sailfish comes in a metal frame. The S1 may have the price tag of $350, but that still remains a rumor. We assume the plastic will be reminiscent of the one on HTC Desire phones, which cuts the overall costs of production.

Concluding this article, we see there will be two Nexus smartphones releasing this year. The Nexus M1, or Marlin and the S1 or Sailfish. Both coming from the house of HTC. The M1 should feature the Snapdragon 821, with atleast 4 gigabytes of RAM keeping it agile.  While the S1 will contain the Snapdragon 820 and 4 gigabytes of RAM. Also, pardon me breaking down the term GB to gigabyte.

Camera specifications are rumored to be the same lineup as of the Nexus 6P, but that seems unlikely. With rumors of a dual camera coming with the iPhone 7, it’s safe to assume a dual pixel or dual camera sensor would come with it. The specific information regarding the camera sensor is not heard of. So it’s best to watch for future updates. We’ll be keeping a look out for them.
