GTX 1070 GAMING X

MSI has announced three new design for the GTX 1070. By the looks, all the three variants look similar to to the ones announced for GTX 1080. MSI has listed all three variants (excluding Founders Edition) on their website –  GTX 1070 GAMING X, GTX 1070 SEA HAWK and  GTX1070 AERO.Untitled

MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G

The Gaming X variant will feature Twin Frozr VI cooling solution equipped with Torx 2.0 fan design. Oh, and not to be overlooked, Zero Frozr technology will be present which ensures quiet operation by turning the fans off while the computer is idle. This variant seems to be using a custom PCB featuring with two power connectors (6pin and 8pin). Also, it includes a decent  backplate which is highly appreciated by the community. GTX 1070 GAMING X seems to be the one balancing  MSI’s high end variant and the reference variant

The LED illumination of the side logo and translucent fins on the shroud along with three speed modes featured by this variant can be controlled by MSI’s GAMING APP. The three speed modes are as follows:

  • (OC Mode) Maximum Performance through higher clock speeds and increased fan performance
    1797 MHz / 1607 MHz / 8108 MHz
  • (Gaming Mode) The best balance between in-game performance and silence
    1771 MHz / 1582 MHz / 8008 MHz
  • (Silent Mode) The best environment for minimal fan noise
    1683 MHz / 1506 MHz  / 8008 MHz

MSI GTX 1070 SEA HAWK

The MSI GTX 1070 Sea Hawk will sport similar profile when compared to Gaming X. Major difference these two variants is, offcourse, the cooling solution.  The hybrid cooler developed in collaboration with Corsair consists of a high-speed pump with micro-fin copper base and 120mm fan mounted on external radiator. Although the PCB seems to be the reference version. Also, this card comes with a nice backplate with black and white accents in contrast.

MSI GTX 1070 AERO

The MSI GTX 1070 Aero is MSI’s so called reference version with a toned down priced tag. Expect it to be priced way lower than the ‘ Founders Edition‘ (close to MSRP). There are two AERO sub-variants, one being factory-overclocked to 1531/1721 MHz, with memory left at default speed, and the other left with at reference clocks. The Cards will feature a backplate, MSI didn’t really specified it but we can surely make it out by taking a glimpse on certain pictures on MSI’s product page.
