Asus at Computex 2015 in Taipei made some major announcements including the launch of the new ZenFone Selfie smartphone alongside its next-generation ZenWatch 2 and the new ZenPad tablets. Now, reports reveal that the Taiwanese company has also unveiled new ZenFone 2 models featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets instead of the Intel chipsets .
The 5-inch model is called the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500KL and offers a 720 x 1280 resolution screen. Powered by the 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset, the phone will have a quad-core CPU with a choice of 2 or 3GB of RAM inside. The 2GB model will come with 16GB of native storage while the 3GB version gives you 32GB of internal memory. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 13MP and 5MP, respectively.
The Asus ZenFone 2 ZE550KL comes with a 5.5-inch screen featuring a 720 x 1280 resolution. The same Snapdragon 410 SoC is employed on this unit, which has 2GB of RAM inside along with 16GB of native storage. The 13MP rear camera features the aforementioned laser auto-focus, and a 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on.
Asus also took the wraps off of a 6-inch phablet, the ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE600KL. Like the previous two models, the display features a 720 x 1280 resolution. Under the hood of the device you will find a more powerful Snapdragon 615 SoC with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of native storage. A 3000mAh battery powers the unit, and the same 13MP/5MP camera combo is on board. Android 5.0.2 is pre-installed.
For those looking to balance size and power, another Snapdragon 615 powered ZenFone 2 was spotted at the show carrying a smaller 5.5-inch screen. Buyers will get the option of choosing between a 720p or a 1080p display. The phone offers 2/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage.
