Semiconductor giant AMD plans to enter Indian electronics sector in a big way. AMD CEO and president Lisa Su met Indian telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and conveyed that the company is committed to transforming India into electronics manufacturing hub. Mr Prasad said on Tuesday said that chip maker AMD is planning to enter Indian electronics sector in a big way.

“AMD wants to come to India in a big way,” Prasad said. According to an official, Su discussed matters related to semiconductor policy and its fab proposal. The government is working to make India a big hub of electronics manufacturing and is providing various incentives to the companies in order for them to set up their shop here.

AMD has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with HSMC to explore various options for delivering technology license to manufacture microprocessors in the semiconductor fabs.
